Dr. Colin Pridy, PhD – Psychologist (Candidate Register)
Psychologist (Candidate Register)
I am a graduate of Dalhousie University’s Clinical Psychology PhD program, where I acquired experience working with adults of all ages to
assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of mental health concerns. I take a collaborative approach in which I work with you to identify your
concerns and set meaningful goals to drive progress. Together, we develop a plan to help you better understand yourself and how you relate
to others and the world around you. We prioritize building the skills and insight needed to navigate life’s stressors with more confidence and
steadiness—in a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental space where you can speak openly and feel genuinely heard. In this way, you can move toward
building a life of meaning and purpose in which you can thrive, at a pace that is right for you.
My areas of clinical practice include assessment/diagnosis and psychotherapeutic treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD),
other trauma- and stressor-related disorders, and general mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder
(OCD), and stress management. I also provide clinical services for concerns related to attention and focus, including attention
deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). I use evidence-based approaches to treatment, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT; for
post-traumatic stress), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), skill-building based on Dialectical
Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness training.
I completed a full-time, 12-month clinical internship at the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre (Atlantic) at CFB Halifax. There, I served
active-duty Regular and Reservist members of the Canadian Armed Forces through a major rotation in the Operational Trauma and Stress Support
Centre and minor rotations in General Mental Health and the Addictions Prevention and Treatment Program. After completing my internship, I
worked at the Dalhousie Centre for Psychological Health, which provides psychological care to marginalized and underserved members of the
community with low incomes and limited health benefits. I joined C. K. Perrier & Associates in December 2025.
I was born in Edmonton, Alberta and grew up in Coquitlam, British Columbia and Bedford, Nova Scotia. Prior to training as a clinical
psychologist, I completed an undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University and I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the
University of British Columbia. My clinical psychology PhD research at Dalhousie addressed how anxiety sensitivity influences preferences for
particular musical structures and song lyrics when selecting music for listening. I have taught, lectured, and published in the disciplines of
both psychology and music.
