Dr. Emily Orr, Ph.D., R.Psych.
Clinical Psychologist
I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario. Since that time, I have worked in a variety of settings including both addiction and eating disorder clinics. I have also had the pleasure of working as a contract psychologist for CFB Halifax in one of their specialized mental health units for three years. I joined Dr. C. K. Perrier & Associates in January 2019 and became a full-time associate in July 2019.
My current focus is providing treatment for eating disorders, trauma, and body image issues. I am also available for eating disorder assessments, as well as clinical supervision for clinicians who are working with those with eating disorders and body image issues. I am also available to provide workshops on eating disorders and body image issues, with content that can be modified for your audience.
For the past 15 years, I have been practicing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy that is Enhanced for Eating Disorder (CBT-E). Trained by the Centre for Research on Eating Disorders at Oxford (CREDO) in the UK, I use this therapy as it is one of the gold-standard treatments for adults with eating disorders. I regularly attend international professional practice meetings with other CBT-E clinicians to maintain my skills in the provision of this therapy. I am also able to provide CBT-AR for adults who have Avoidant-Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). In September 2025, I ran an 8-week pilot group program on Positive Body Image. This program was very well received by participants and will be offered again in Spring 2026. This program focuses on shifting one’s mindset about their body (rather than shifting body appearance). For more information, please see the program website (https://www.perrierwellness.ca/pbi.html).
For trauma-based work, I practice Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR). DBR was developed by Dr. Frank Corrigan in Scotland. It is a trauma therapy that was primarily developed to help process the overwhelm of shock that occurs when we experience something that leaves us horrified, helpless, or otherwise traumatized. Although it is not yet an evidence-based treatment, it has a very strong theoretical framework based in neuroscience and is showing good promise with complex symptoms like dissociation. More details about DBR can be found here: https://deepbrainreorienting.com/
I work with individuals who are 25 years of age or older. I work in person with clients who are located within HRM. I work virtually with clients who reside in Nova Scotia but are unable to travel to Bedford. I am also happy to announce that as of September 2025, I am now offering virtual services to individuals residing in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
